and her name is…

Kajsa Ling!

Kajsa Ling Stanley-Erickson.

In case you haven’t figured out yet, “Kajsa” is pronounced like “ice-a”, only with a “k” at the beginning. Kajsa is a Swedish name, commonly used as a nickname for “Carin”, and also a derivative of “Katherine”, meaning pure. None of these are the reasons we chose it, however. We simply like it. And yes, the voting results are now showing “Kajsa” on top, but it’s also our favorite at this point. We are very excited. And we wanted to keep part of our baby’s Chinese name as her middle name, and like the fact that children brought to her specific orphanage are given the last name “Ling”, so thought we’d keep that part.

Things are moving along.. no news on travel yet. Our visa applications were sent out last week. We’re waiting for travel approval (probably won’t be informed until first week of June), potential travel dates, visa approval, etc…

Woo hooo!!!!

Continued thanks for your emails, support, votes, prayers.. and please, continue to pray for the country of China and the millions affected by the earthquake and after-effects.

I love the name! I didn’t realize Kajsa was a Swedish name. I thought it sounded kind of Chinese, and that’s why I liked it. I have never heard the name before. How did you find it? Both of your names – Cathy and Kajsa – mean “pure.” I thought it was special that our daughter Karin and my name – Kathy both mean “pure”.

Kathy, Jim has a couple of friends in Sweden named “Kajsa”, and we had heard it only a few times here in the States. Then when we started thinking seriously about names we both like… Kajsa was on the top three list!

HI,

I don’t know if you know it but our 10 year old daughter’s name is Kajsa Greta! I almost voted for another name because we like having uncommon names for our kids but I couldn’t resist voting for Kajsa since we obviously love the name!! πŸ™‚ (Todd and Sheryl Slechta have a Kajsa too but spell it differently.) We are very excited for you and wish you the best as you await the final weeks of what has probably been a really long wait. Corey has 2 adopted sisters from Korea and they both have their Korean names as their middle names too. Take care and God Bless, Corey and Gretchen J.
