Guangzhou street scene

Guangzhou street

Typical scene in Guangzhou—red lanterns, long well-groomed streets, t-shirts hanging in doorways and windows… so fun. I know, it’s touristy. But it’s so fun. The annoying part is that most of the vendors walk all over the store with you, pointing out every possible gift for your child, or for your friends, or your mother, or for you, perhaps? I mean literally point out stuff. “That’s chopsticks.” … “That’s a t-shirt.. do you want a t-shirt from Guangzhou?” … “I think your girl looks beautiful in this traditional Chinese dress”….. “How about squeaky shoes? Don’t you want to buy more?” “Those are pearls.”…. “that’s a tea set”…. How about traditional MahJong?”

I could go on and on, but you get the picture. It’s so annoying. I have heard (thanks for the tip, Dawn and Andrew and Althea!) that “Jordan’s” is not like this. So, hopefully tomorrow I will get there.
